The phase of the New Moon is an opportunity for renewal. It is a time to assess our wants and needs; a time to manifest new beginnings. The New Moon is a time to rest before the next cycle begins and can bring abundance. Postpartum mirrors this part of the lunar cycle in many ways. Being able to serve mothers during their birth and postpartum experience is my way of honoring women’s capabilities. It is a celebration of our power. With the preparation of each placenta, I am able to make my contribution and show my gratitude to women. Many mothers have questions about the process... What are the benefits? What are the risks? Why should I consider encapsulation? How is it prepared? Here you will find answers to each of these common questions and concerns. If you would like to inquire about something not found here, please feel free to email me directly.
Benefits
Placenta consumption is a normal part of the birth process for every land mammal on Earth. Women have been taking in the benefits of this nutrient rich organ for centuries.
Preparing placenta for ingestion through the encapsulation process is practiced in different cultures around the world. It is said that once the placenta is ingested by the mother after delivery, her Qi, or Life Energy is restored. The placenta contains a mixture of rich nutrients, hormones, antibodies, and proteins that have many benefits for mother and baby. Together, these have been known to help decrease levels of stress, promote healthy energy levels, curb postpartum depression, increase milk production, boost iron, and aid in building a strong immune system!
There are no known risks. Didn't have an unmedicated birth? Don't fret. Regardless of the type of birth experience you braved, your placenta can still be encapsulated for consumption! Embrace your birth story for what it is and reward yourself with the beautiful gift your body has already made.

The Amazing
Process
The placenta is steamed, dried for several hours, and ground into a powder. Capsules are filled with placenta powder and taken as a daily supplement. I use 100% vegetarian capsules and recycled brown glass bottles. Maintaining the lightest carbon footprint possible is my way of showing gratitude and care to Mother Earth, as she never falters in caring for us. Raw preparation is done by simply cleaning and dividing the placenta into small equal portions. This option ensures no valuable nutrients are lost in the cooking process, and is often used in smoothies, protein shakes, and other recipes. A small piece of raw placenta can be preserved in a bottle of edible alcohol for a medicinal tincture. Tinctures can be used long after your pills run out!
